QC Botanical Center Showcasing "Stink Lily"

It's a plant you have to smell to believe.

The Quad City Botanical Center's "Plant of the Week" is the Voodoo Lily. It's also known as the "Stink Lily."

Officials at the QC Botanical Center say if you take one whiff of this unusual plant, you'll know why.

"Well if you get around 20 feet on in right now it…smells like road kill," says Dave Searl from the QC Botanical Center.

The voodoo lily only blooms once a year, for a week. The rotten odor attracts insects to pollinate the plant.
