Damewood Makes First Court Appearance

A Galesburg man accused of performing sex acts on a minor made his first court appearance Monday.

25-year-old Joshua Damewood faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse after he allegedly forced a teenager into sex acts on the Orpheum Theater's stage.

Damewood surrendered back in December, telling police the acts were consensual and he thought the boy was over 18.

The victim told police the incident happened in late October but he was too afraid to come forward.

Damewood will be back in court at the end of this month.
