Iowa Senate Committee Debating Medicaid Expansion

Medicaid expansion in Iowa is now being debated in the state senate.

The plan proposed by senate Democrats would allow more low-income people, including children and the disabled, to qualify.

President Obama's healthcare overhaul provides funding to states that expand Medicaid.

Democrats say the expansion will help low-income Iowans, but Republicans oppose an expansion, based on how much it could potentially cost.
