The auto show geared up Thursday night by giving back area car dealers presenting college scholarships to local student.
"Most of these are sons and daughters grandsons and granddaughters of employees of local dealerships. So it's a nice way to give back and recognize these employees that have given a lot to the stores they work at," said Tom Pospisil, G.M. Ericksen Chevrolet/Buick.
$25,000 in scholarship money was divided out to six Q.C.A. students. The scholarship fund is managed by the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend. To date, more than $205,000 in scholarships have been distributed to area students since the fund was established.
"Going forward its going to mean a lot because I plan to go into medicine. So I will be in college for eight years and then six years residency and then with two other brothers already in college the financial help means a lot to my family," said Katherine Hopkins, Scholarship Recipient.
"The auto show runs through Sunday at Davenports RiverCenter. Tickets are $7 for adults, kids $six and under are free.
