Over the last year, Tennant Trucking Company added 67 jobs. And with their growing business, they're now eligible for a million dollar tax credit.
Success employees say makes a big difference in their day to day work.
"You don't have to worry about am I going to have a job the next day or not because our particular company here is growing so fast," says Janet Reese, Maintenance Worker, Tennant Trucking.
Janet Reese started working in the maintenance department two months ago. She's not surprised the company is being recognized for its efforts.
"We have a very good reputation with the companies we have now with delivering on time and making sure everything is being delivered safely and efficiently."
That's why Governor Pat Quinn stopped in Colona today to show proof that small family owned businesses can succeed.
The company started back in 1946 with one truck carrying livestock to Galesburg.
Now they have over 200 trucks and the company has no plans to slow down.
"We saw the benefits of staying in this area because of the close ties we had with the people," says Todd Stoner, VP/CFO, Tennant Trucking.
Janet Reese says it makes going to work a whole lot easier.
"There's tons of things going on, tons of opportunity and that's something that's really important I think."
