A new bill in Iowa could put more money in your pocket this tax season. The first bill to clear both the house and senate would update the state tax code to match recent federal tax changes.
That means, Iowans filing state taxes can get tax credits for child care, deduct interest paid on student loans and expense some equipment bought for small businesses or farms.
The legislation will cost the state about 60 million dollars over the next two years in lost tax dollars.
Governor Branstad said he will likely sign the bill.
