Some tough news tonight for area Girl Scouts...The group may have to sell off several of their camps.
The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois have recommended selling four camps including Camp Conestoga in Scott County.
Girl Scout leaders said only 10% of their girls are using the camps.
They said the drop is due to a growing demand for places with technology.
Scout leaders said they'll still have outdoor activities and they hope to build a new outdoor learning center with money from the sale of the camps.
"But there's so much to girl scouting our have so many more opportunities so camp isn't always the first thing they look at doing," Diane Nelson said. l
Scout leaders will vote on the proposed sale of the camps next month.
