Change
is ahead for downtown Moline,
and Tuesday night City Council may have several decisions to make on what's
next for the city.
There
are three big items on the table at Tuesday night's meeting.
One is
to vote on whether or not to finalize the Amin Group as the developer of the
multi modal train station.
Another
is whether or not to go ahead with an agreement with the Moline Hotel Group. They
plan to rebuild the old John Deere Collector's Center into a hotel.
The
third is to move forward with an agreement with Covariance Holdings to remodel
the former Moline
Community Center into an
office space.
Planning
and Development Director Ray Forsythe says all this development will have a
positive impact on the city and its economy.
"You
know we're really excited that the private sector is continuing to invest in Moline and it's creating
jobs and retail and opportunities for travelers and residents of the Quad
Cities," said Forsythe.
All
three items could be finalized tonight, and city leaders anticipate that they
all will be approved.
City Council
meets at 6:30PM at city hall, and it is open to the public.
