Land investigation at Watch Tower Plaza

Before Walmart moves to Rock Island, one Illinois company is making sure the land is safe.

Environet is proceeding with phase two of its land investigation out at Watch Tower Plaza on 11th street. Rock Island Mayor, Dennis Pauley said this is typical before redeveloping the land. The Plaza used to be home to a gas station, so they have to make sure the land is safe.

Mayor Pauley said, despite the investigation, construction is expected to start this Spring, with Walmart finished by November.
