A big Galesburg development will be carried out in 2 phases instead of one.
That's because the nearly 30 acres West of North Seminary Street, slated for development, aren't all owned by the city. 18 acres are privately owned and the developer is still working to buy it. But instead of delaying the entire project, the developer is looking at turning the other portion of the land into a hotel and retail space. Details of which could be presented to city council by March.
No word on when the city will buy the other remaining 18 acres.
