1,000 Pigs Die in Hog Farm Fire

About 1,000 pigs died in a fire at a Louisa County confinement facility.

The fire on Friday burned down two barns at Mipa Hog Farm near Columbus Junction.

Multiple agencies, helped fight the flames for several hours in the bitter cold weather. Workers were able to escape the buildings with no injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
