More jobs and big changes are ahead for Galesburg.
Developers of the North Seminary Street property want to
move ahead with the major project in two phases instead of one.
City council will look at the request in tomorrow's meeting.
The project includes a potential grocer, a retail center,
and a hotel.
There was some controversy from concerned neighbors about
noise and traffic, but the mayor of Galesburg said the good outweighs the bad.
"It most definitely would add new investment as well as
new job creation and various types of jobs, not just in the retail sector,"
said Mayor Salvador Garza.
City council will discuss the issue tomorrow at 6:30 at city
hall.
