Students at Bettendorf High School received an out of this world visit today from one of their own.

Jeff Hanley is NASA's Director of Human Exploration Development. He is also a 1979 graduate of Bettendorf High.

He talked to students about his accomplishments as well as the future of NASA's space program. All while hoping to connect with and inspire the next generation.

"If you have a dream a passion an interest that sometimes life can kind of press in on you and seem like you will never achieve it," said Jeff Hanley. "So if they take anything away from my story is if you do work hard and do passionately follow your dreams they can come true."

Hanley's visit was made possible through Bettendorf School's Visiting Scholar Program.
