Durbin, Bustos Working to Get Thomson Prison Open

Illinois Senator Dick Durbin and Congresswoman Cheri Bustos are working with federal officials to get the Thomson prison open.

The federal government bought the prison from the state of Illinois in October.

Durbin says the new federal budget should include money to run the prison.

The Bureau of Prisons plans to use the facility as a maximum security federal prison to help combat overcrowding.

The state built the prison in 2001, but never fully used it.
