Ten attorneys from our area have applied to fill the vacant District 14 Circuit Court judgeship.

District 14 is made up of Henry, Mercer, Rock Island, and Whiteside Counties.

Up for consideration are David Andich of Rock Island; Associate Judge Raymond Conklin of Moline; Marita Griffith of Moline; Norma Kauzlarich of Taylor Ridge; Christine Keys of Bettendorf, Iowa; Michael Kraycinovich, currently in the U.S. Army stationed in Alabama; Kathleen Mesich of Coal Valley; Benjamin Samuelson of Moline; Katherine Varlas Teel of Rock Island and Linnea Thompson of Moline.

The selection process will consist of background checks, a poll of all attorneys in the 14th District, and a judicial screening committee.

Chief Justice Thomas Kilbride will make the appointment, which will last until December 1, 2014 when the judgeship will be filled by the 2014 general election.
