Today
the Davenport City Council will decide how to move forward with the Davenport casino.
The
city council will meet to discuss and vote on what direction to go with the
developers.
The
decision could be to keep doing what they are doing, or it could be to pick one
developer.
The
two developers being considered are Ingenus Management and Restoration St
Louis.
The
Davenport Community Improvement Corporation voted on Monday night to recommend
Ingenus Management.
Ingenus
plans to build two casinos, one off Interstate 80 and one downtown.
But
don't count out Restoration St.
Louis just yet.
Mayor
Gluba says the council could vote to keep working with both.
He
says both proposals still need to make some changes, and tonight will spur more
serious discussions.
Mayor
Gluba says it would be best for the city to have two casinos built, but the
funding is still up in the air.
"I
mean the idea is to gain as much gaming revenue as possibly so why not make it
as convenient as possible. And this is all based upon will the numbers crunch,
and we haven't determined that yet," said Gluba.
Davenport
Alderman Jeff Justin says no matter which way they go, there's always been one
goal in mind.
"I
think there's a lot more work to be done, but I certainly think we've made a
lot of progress and I think the council regardless of our personal preference
will do what we think is in the best interest of the tax payers," said
Justin.
The
city plans to have a full proposal ready sometime in March.
They
will then present to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, which has the final
say on the plans.
