The world's largest shipping company is planting its roots here in the Quad Cities.
Maersk Line appointed Milan based Adrian Carriers, as its local container depot.
The joint venture allows Maersk to rest its trucks in town and refill when necessary, instead of going all the way to Chicago.
As a result, the company will eliminate 500,000 miles of trucks carrying empty cargo, as well as bringing more dollars into the Quad Cities.
The move to Milan will also reduce the company's annual CO2 emissions by 10 million pounds.
