Chefs and ice sculptors from across the Midwest met today for a big competition.
It was Iowa's first ever dessert and centerpiece competition over at the Isle of Capri in Bettendorf.
There were five categories; wedding cakes, celebration cakes, buffet desserts, ice sculptures, and centerpieces.
The event's organizer says the key to winning is a flawless, complex design.
"The level of detail that goes into these things...if you look at the chocolates really closely, I mean the work on it is just, it's just phenomenal," said Matt Meadows, executive chef at Isle of Capri.
The talented gold medal winners of each category got a cash prize.
