3 Arrested in Sterling for Counterfeiting

Three people were arrested after allegedly passing counterfeit twenty dollar bills at the Sterling Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Jimmie D. Martin, Jeffery K. Morris, and Vauncile M. Ruby were arrested and charged for various felony charges of burglary and forgery.

At 4:55 PM, Sterling Police received a reporter that a male and female subject were passing counterfeit bills at the Wal-Mart.  Upon discovery of the counterfeit bills, other area Wal-Marts were put on alert.

At about 5:15 PM, the Dixon Wal-Mart contacted Dixon Police advising the same two subjects were attempting to return items at the store.

Dixon Police then contacted Sterling Police advising they had the two in custody, soon after they had a third in custody.

All three were turned over to the Sterling Police Department.  Sterling Police identified several other stores in Sterling were they had passed the counterfeit twenties too.

Sterling Police made the Secret Service aware of the counterfeit twenty dollar bills.
