It could soon be tougher for Illinois students to make the grade.
The State Board of Education is considering raising the performance score in Math and English on achievement tests.
Board members say the move would give state educators a better understanding of student readiness for college and their careers.
The state's superintendent says scores could drop significantly in the short term, but students would be better off in the long term.
