Francisco Villagomez said while he was at the QC Mart on Avenue of the Cities in Moline Tuesday night, putting air in his tires, a man jumped in his car and tried to drive away.
Villagomez said he got into the passenger's seat and tried to stop the man. That's when the suspect jumped out and tried to run away, but Villagomez said he caught him and held him until police came. He said the quick reaction was just instinct.
"My first instinct was to jump in an see what the dude's doing, I mean, I didn't know what really to think. If say a random guy just jumped into your car, you're instinct is going to be, what the hell are you doing?" said Francisco Villagomez.
Police said the suspect, James Ostino, was arrested and charged with attempted theft.
