They took on the challenge and now they're reaping the benefits.
Fifteen QC non profit organizations signed up less than a year ago, for the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend', Match Challenge.
If the non profits raised $15,000 dollars, the foundation would give them a $5,000 dollar grant.
Youth Hope got one of those grants, and organizers said it's a gift that will keep on giving.
"This match challenge gives us an opportunity to have our own little endowment over here, where each year as it grows, and even if it doesn't grow, we're going to get a certain amount of money guaranteed, so it's awesome," said Mark Drake, Youth Hope Executive Director.
Overall, more than $1 million dollars raised by local supporters, were given out to the non profits.
