Police: Man Steals Car to Get Away from Cold

One man is accused of going to great lengths to escape the cold.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says Harold Schneider of Iowa City stole a Jeep and drove hundreds of miles south, because he wanted to get away from the cold weather.

Police say Schneider made it all the way to Mississippi before authorities tracked him down on Saturday.

Schneider is still in County Jail on $50,000 cash bond.
