MLK Center Holds Service & Awards Celebration

It was a day of celebration and service at the Martin Luther King Center in Rock Island Monday.

Today's Annual Memorial Service and Awards celebration was held today in Rock Island. Community members were honored for their service to the community. Also, guest speakers talked about the work that still needs to be done to complete doctor king's goals.

"This gives us a chance to reflect upon his life," said Rev. Dwight Ford, Director of the MLK Center. "But also reconnect to the principals by which he lived."

"It is a wonderful example of how such a diverse community can come together," says Rev. Lance Chaney. "And be inspired to solve the ill's and problems of the community."

The event also marked the King Center's 30th Anniversary.
