The frozen temperatures helped make quite a mess in one Davenport neighborhood Monday morning.
A water main cracked near the intersection of Lombard and Fairmount around 7:00 AM Monday.
The frigid temperatures caused the water to freeze as soon as it came to the surface. It was also too cold for salt to melt the ice, so crews had to chip through it.
The good news is crews did not have to shut off water to residents to fix the break.
Iowa American hoped to have the crack fixed by Monday Night.
