It's only the second time in history that inauguration day falls on Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
President Obama was officially sworn into office yesterday at the White House. Today at his public ceremony in front of the U.S. capitol he will honor Martin Luther King Jr.
Obama will pay tribute to the civil rights leader by using a bible that King owned in the ceremony. There also will be a float in King's honor in the inauguration parade.
President Obama defeated Republican candidate Mitt Romney back in November to win his second term in office.
There are a variety of opinions on what the next four years has in store, and some local residents predict much of the same.
"The next four years will probably be more of the same. I don't really anticipate any dramatic improvement in the economy and I doubt that we'll drop much further than that," said Terry Mahon of East Moline.
District of Columbia officials expect over half a million people to attend the inauguration.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:30a.m.
