Thomson Prison could open soon

We should soon know when the long dormant Thomson prison will open.
 
Senator Dick Durbin says the Department of Justice has moved forward the initial steps needed to start upgrading the facility and hiring employees.


Durbin is awaiting the release of President Obama's budget saying it should include funding to open the prison which was built 11 years ago.


Durbin says once Thomson is open it will create more than one thousand jobs and ease crowding at other federal prisons.
