Gun Appreciation Day in Cedar Rapids

Gun rights activists are dubbing today gun appreciation day.

Gun supporters are gathering throughout the country, including large rallies in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines to voice their protests against proposed new gun restrictions

"Any law that is passed and any executive order that is issued will only affect lawful people because only they will obey what is in the law," said Jeff Gillis, a gun supporter.

On Wednesday the president presented his sweeping proposal, which calls for universal background checks, and a ban on assault weapons and high–capacity magazines.
