Numerous fire departments continue to fight the fire at Del's Restaurant in Eldridge.

The fire started shortly after 8 A.M. and quickly spread throughout the well known downtown restaurant.  Smoke from the blaze could be seen as far as Moline.

Witnesses on scene told CBS4 that Del's is a popular location in Eldridge and to see it burn is "devastating".

At times the smoke was so thick it blocked out the sun and the temps in the area dropped quickly.

Traffic is being around the area as the many pieces of fire fighting equipment have blocked off nearby streets.
