Just a week after asking for a new trial, Nicholas Sheley will be sentenced for murder.
Nicholas Sheley will go before a Whiteside County judge to be sentenced for the bludgeoning death of 93-year-old Russell Reed.
Sheley is already serving one life sentence for killing a Galesburg man, and awaits trial in six other murders.
In 2008, Sheley was accused of going on a killing spree in Illinois and Missouri.
Sheley was found guilty in November of first degree murder of Reed, home invasion and residential burglary. The maximum sentence for these crimes: life without parole.
However Sheley's lawyer has filed a motion asking for a new trial.
The attorney says there were 89 judicial errors made in the case. The motion for a new trial is still being considered.
Sheley will be sentenced at 10 this morning.
