Kids at one Rock Island elementary school now have a place to hang out after they get out of class.
Thanks to a federal grant, Earl Hanson Elementary joins a long list of other Quad City schools that has a Lights on for Learning Community Learning Center.
It provides educational and enrichment activities for struggling students.
And after three years of applying, Earl Hanson's principal said she couldn't be more excited for his students.
"I just think this is a great opportunity. We have a wide variety of students here and I think we'll be able to meet their needs and the needs of our families in ways that we haven't been able to in the past," said Principal Deb Taber.
The program will also provide homework help and other enrichment activities.
