Seniors in Illinois, there's a scam you should know about.
Two seniors in Springfield were taken out of $7,000 from a caller who claimed to be from the bank,
The caller asked them to withdrawal money and give out their bank information to prevent the victim from having their money stolen from a bank employee.
The Western Illinois Agency on Aging says a legitimate company will not pressure you for such information over the phone.
"If it's over the phone and it's something legitimate, you will get a letter from the agency or you will get some formal type of communication," says David Sonneville from the Western Illinois Agency on Aging. "It won't be just over the phone or door to door."
The agency says if you do have any questions with a phone conversation, ask for time, some written information, or ask for the name of their supervisor.
