It's been nearly three months since Superstorm Sandy ravaged the east coast and there's still plenty left to be fixed.

Here in the Quad Cities, some people doing their part to help out. Members of St. James Lutheran Church in Rock Island spent the day today filling flood buckets with all sorts of cleaning supplies.

"We're happy to help those people because they have a lot of problems there," says Mshimilimama Alime, volunteer.

The buckets are filled with everything from trash bags, brushes and dish soap.

About $2,000 raised to help fill one hundred buckets.

Organizer Tom Fox says his previous experience with disaster relief work and watching people back east continue to suffer made him realize he had to help out.

"I just knew I had to do something," Fox says. "One night I couldn't sleep. And I thought you know...we did flood buckets before!"

Once word got out about Fox's plans, he says people couldn't wait to jump on–board.

"A gentleman from Taylor Ridge that I have never met before in my life said ‘you can use my trailer. Take it as long as you need it. Just go ahead and use it.'" Fox adds.

And it's not just this one Rock Island church that's helping relief efforts.

"I picked up 20 buckets last night in Dubuque," Fox exclaims. "Never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd get this kind of response."

And Tuesday, the trailer will be filled with buckets and making its way to Staten Island to help those in need from Superstorm Sandy.
