LAB-AIDS is introducing revolutionary activity-based Chemistry products designed to support the requirements of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness.
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) January 10, 2013
This spring all high school chemistry students in Texas will sit for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test as a requirement for graduation. In response to the need to properly prepare students for this test, LAB-AIDS is introducing five activity-based kits based on the STAAR Chemistry Blueprint developed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
“We designed these kits so that the essential Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills or TEKS for level 2, satisfactory student performance is reviewed” noted Dr. Mark Koker, Director of the LAB-AIDS Institute, who added that “each of the five kits were designed for whole-class use, are activity-based and can be completed in 2 to 3 class periods.”
The LAB-AIDS STAAR Chemistry product line was derived from their high school chemistry program, A Natural Approach to Chemistry, which was authored by Drs. Tom Hsu and Manos Chaniotakis and is 100% conforming to the TEKS.
In addition, the LAB-AIDS Institute is offering in-depth professional development (PD) through their certified trainers in support of all LAB-AIDS STAAR Chemistry Review Products.
LAB-AIDS is focused on being “A Catalyst for Learning.” The company develops, manufactures and publishes supplementary and core curriculum products that help students better understand science concepts through direct experience. These experiences truly build a strong and long lasting foundation of knowledge.
LAB-AIDS was established in 1963 by a science teacher based on a unique and exciting idea – to help science teachers offer a more meaningful "hands-on" experience in the classroom by providing them with the materials and equipment that they need to execute actual science experiments with their students, making learning more effective. He knew that when students experience science first-hand they are more engaged and have greater knowledge retention.
From the materials and equipment that have been the mainstay of the LAB-AIDS offering for almost 50 years to the middle and high school curriculum that they offer today through partnerships with Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California - Berkeley and others, LAB-AIDS has revolutionized science education today, and is a leader in science curriculum and inquiry-based learning for middle and high schools across America.
