Folks in Rock Island put the pedal to the medal in a BMX competition.
More than one hundred and seventy riders took part in the first Illinois state qualifier for 2013.
People came from Canada, Connecticut, Wisconsin, and of course right here in Illinois to race in Rock Island's indoor track at the QCCA Expo Center.
This summer, East Moline will sponsor an outdoor BMX competition for the first time.
The track operator says the indoor track is great for kids to ride during the cold winter months.
"The facility is the only indoor wooden track in the United States, so we have a very unique BMX experience here and we're lucky to get to host that state qualifier," says Paul DePauw, Track Operator, and Rock Island Indoor BMX.
If you or your child wants to try BMX riding, you sure can.
The East Moline speedway is giving away a free one day pass to try out the track. They'll even loan out the equipment.
