Get ready to lace up those skates. A new outdoor ice rink is coming to Davenport.
Center ice is going in on 2nd Street in the courtyard in front of the Skybridge.
But creating the rink is no easy task. City crews are trying to figure out the perfect recipe for making and maintaining the ice. Davenport firefighters helped out on Friday by spraying the surface.
Genesis is sponsoring the free rink as a way to get community together, they'd hoped to do it last year but mother nature didn't cooperate.
"This year we're very optimistic that we're going to be able to offer to the public this accessible, healthy, winter activity at no cost starting later this month," said Ken Croken, Gensis Health System.
The rink opens on the 27th along with an ice festival. They'll be ice skating exhibits, and plenty of family friendly activities.the rink will stay open as long as the weather allows.
