Looking for a new year's resolution?
One way to give back this year is by donating blood. January is National Blood Donor Month, where the Red Cross recognizes those who donate blood across the country.
Despite this recognition, blood donation is especially in need at this time.
"In the winter months we typically see blood donations go down," says Kasey Kelly, American Red Cross. "It's just a slower month for us, so we're always looking for donations. They say every two seconds someone in America needs blood."
Blood donations are needed to help treat cancer patients, trauma victims, organ transplant recipients and other medical conditions.
Blood donors need to be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds, and be in good health For more information on how to donate, just click here.
