IL health insurance exchange

The new health insurance exchange should be up and running this year.

Illinois officials said they expect federal approval soon, and hope to have the first customers enrolled by October first. The exchanges are a part of President Obama's health care overhaul and are intended to be consumer-friendly online marketplaces.

That way, customers in every state can comparison shop for health insurance, just as they now shop online for airline tickets.
