Illinois could have a lot more money for road and bridge projects this year.

The state is getting $400 million in extra federal and state money over the next five years.

The Illinois Department of Transportation is asking the state to use $275 million of that this year.

Lawmakers will vote on I-DOT's funding when they return on Wednesday.
