QC Sailor Welcomed Home from Afghanistan

It was a big welcome home surprise for one Quad City sailor returning from Afghanistan.

"Got a little choked up, really meant a lot, people really do care," said Eric Shaffer, Petty Officer 1^st Class in the U.S. Navy.

The Patriot Guard Riders were there to greet Petty Officer 1st Class Shaffer at the Quad City International Airport last night.

Shaffer's uncle is one of the Patriot Guard Riders and planned the welcome home.

Mom and dad were also there to greet their son.

"Oh, I'm just so happy that he's home, I'm just, I was just really shocked and I'm just excited," said Mary Martinez, Shaffer's mom.

The Patriot Guard Riders also welcomed home another service member last night.
