A Galesburg man is facing up to 35 years in prison for an incident where he attacked a woman with a brick.

In November of 2011 police responded to a report of a person down in the 500 block of Liberty Street.  There they found a woman with critical injuries to her face and head.

Cody Thomas was arrested at the scene and originally charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery.

On Friday, after a two day bench trial, the judge determined that there was not enough evidence to convict Thomas of attempted murder.  He was found guilty of aggravated battery and two counts of attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Thomas will be sentenced March 20th.
