175 years ago Scott County had its first sheriff and the occasion is being commemorated with special anniversary badges.
A reserve deputy came up with the idea for the commemorative badges about 6 months ago. The badges have a few new additions including the officer's name and radio ID.
Officers can begin wearing the badges January 1st and wear them through the year. And once the year is over the officers will be able to keep their badge.
"I think it's a unique thing to bring attention to the service that sheriffs and deputies have provided to the citizens of Scott County for 175 years," Sheriff Dennis Conrad said.
Each officer had the option to buy their personalized badge so the money did not come from the tax payers.
