There's still snow on the ground from last week's storm and there's more heading our way today.
While it may only be a dusting, road crews are gearing up for Round 2.
"The salt we've been putting down is starting to have some of an effect on the side streets getting down to the ice that underneath the snow," says Steve Russell, Davenport Public Works. "We just keep adding people out there and keep cleaning the routes."
It won't be as bad as last time, but drivers are asked to take their time out on the roads today. Give yourself some extra space from other cars to avoid any potential accidents. Public Works leaders say stick to the main roadways if possible since those will be the ones plowed the most.
Crews hope after this snow hits, they'll finally have a chance to get rid of all that ice on the roads.
"Right now we just need to get the salt on the streets and have it get a little action," Russell adds. "It'd be nice to have a little daytime sun and be a little warmer so we're trying to break the ice underneath."
Before you head off to work, you might want to lay down some more salt in your driveway if you're still looking at any ice from last storm.
