A Rapids City, Illinois family is without a home on Christmas, after a fire destroys their home.
The fire started around 1:00 PM Tuesday afternoon on 13th Street. Multiple agencies were called to the house.
We're told by family they had just finished opening Christmas presents at a relative's house when they found out about the fire.
Officials tell us there were no injuries, but the home is likely a total loss.
"Lots of heavy smoke and fire damage on the extension, and smoke damage up the stairs and water damage of course." says Don Carey, Rapids City Fire Chief. "Very stubborn, had a couple different ceilings in here, we chased this fire around."
The family says they are in good spirits despite what happened.
Investigators are still looking into what started the fire.
