Local church remembers the true meaning of Christmas

A candlelight service at a local church celebrates the true meaning of Christmas on Sunday.

The Third Missionary Baptist Church in Davenport holds a candlelight service every year on the Sunday before Christmas.

Congregation members act out the nativity scene, and ministers speak about the importance of remembering the true meaning of Christmas.

Pastor Rogers Kirk Junior says it's a great time to really remember what the holiday is about.

"In this day and time, it's so commercialized that we tend to forget what's the real meaning of Christmas. It's not about us receiving gifts, it's not about the hustle and the bustle, it's about the Christ child being born."
