The old Moline train depot may have been saved at the eleventh hour by the Governor of Illinois.
In a letter obtained by CBS4 from Governor Quinn to Diann Moore, president of the Moline Preservation Society, Quinn pledges $82,000 towards moving the depot.
The money would come from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The Governor said "The advocacy of so many dedicated citizens to save the
Moline train depot is a testament to our state. By
coming together for a cause they believed in, they were able to save a historic
part of the community for generations to come. On behalf of the people of the
state of Illinois, I am honored to support this worthy effort and help move the
depot to its new home at Western Illinois University-Quad
Cities."
