UPDATE:
The woman found in the car in the Mississippi has been identified as a 28 year old East Moline resident.
The Rock Island County coroner says that it looks like the woman lost control and plunged into the river early this morning. Toxicology results are pending.
The woman's name is not being released at this time.
PREVIOUS STORY:
Moline Police are asking for the public's help in figuring out how a car ended up in the river Monday morning. A little after 3:00 A.M. a patrol car spotted the red Pontiac Grand Prix in the river near the 4500 block of River Drive.
Moline Fire responded and marked the car for divers to recover. Members of the Big River Rescue/Recovery Dive Team removed the vehicle from the water.
A woman was found dead inside.
Police are still investigating and are asking the public to call the Moline Police Traffic Division with any information at 309-524-2214.

BREAKING: A body has been found in a car that went into the Mississippi River early Monday Morning.
Police will not say whether it is a male or a female or how the person may have died.
If anyone has any information call police.
EARLIER STORY:
A car is in the Mississippi River just off the 4400 block of River Drive in Moline.
The call came in just after 3:00 Monday Morning.
The car is about 40 feet out in the water and was about 75% submerged when it was spotted by police.
Crews have been out all morning, but did not make entry into the water because it was to dark and cold.
They plan to continue recovery efforts at the first sign of daylight.
No word on whether anyone is in the car when it went in.
Police only know the car is red and has no license plates.
River Drive is closed between Old River Drive and 41st Street.
