A Rock Island boy is getting the chance of a lifetime.
6-year-old Emery Tillberg will be honored at the Iowa Vs. Iowa State men's basketball game Friday night as a kid captain. It's all part of the team's partnership with the University of Iowa Children's Hospital that recognizes kids with inspirational stories.
When Emery was born, he was 15 weeks premature, and only weighed a pound. But Emery after spending more than 220 days in the ICU, he pulled through.
His parents say the honor is just another reason to be proud of their son.
"If you go up to Iowa City right now, his picture is all over the place," says Erik Tillberg, Emery's father. "My kid is always going to be special and every kid is going to be special to their own parent but it just gives me a little extra to brag about."
