QC Kids In Need Get Free Shoes

Some QC kids got much needed new kicks today.

More than 300 kids from different area schools got to pick out their new shoes at Moline's Famous Footwear. It's all part of annual effort from AT&T Pioneers to make sure kids in need have shoes for the cold winter months.

And the children say they're so grateful to have the latest footwear fashion for free.

"It's cool," said Sierra Duferene, a 4th grader. "I came here last year with my old school, and it rocked!"

Organizers say for many of the kids, the shoes may be the only gift they get this holiday season.
