Two men have been charged in connection with a boat accident that killed four people.
Joseph S. Schier, Jr., 21, and Douglas C. Metcalf, 22, both from Burlington,
were each formally charged Friday morning with one count of Boating While
Intoxicated causing death, a class B felony, and four counts of involuntary
manslaughter, class D felonies, for operating the boats that collided in the
Mississippi River near Burlington on May 19.
Schier, Jr., and Metcalf were
each operating jon boats in the early morning hours when they collided killing
Matthew T. House, 21, Jacob K. Boyd, 22, Caitlyn M. Atchley, 20, and Blake A.
Eakins, 21, all from Burlington.
Charges were filed by the Des
Moines County Attorney's office. No trial date has been scheduled.
